Rooted in Beauty: Our Visit to the 2026 Philadelphia Flower Show

Earlier this week, Sherry and I had the pleasure of attending the 2026 Philadelphia Flower Show, presented by the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society. Held at the Pennsylvania Convention Center from March 1–9, the show marked the 197th edition of this iconic event.

But our visit actually started months earlier.

For Christmas 2025, Sherry gifted me tickets to the show and told me I could bring anyone I wanted. I ended up choosing to bring her. Not only did it feel like the perfect opportunity for some team bonding, but I also know how much she genuinely loves flowers and gardening.

At the time, I had no idea what to expect. In fact, I had never even heard of the Philadelphia Flower Show before receiving the tickets.

And what an incredible surprise it turned out to be.

Like Disney World for Flowers

From the moment we walked through the entrance, we were greeted by a breathtaking installation that stretched across the entire room. It felt enormous—almost like the size of a football field—and completely immersive.

The best way I can describe it is Disney World for flowers.

Every direction we turned revealed something different: elaborate tablescapes, artistic floral interpretations, immersive landscapes, and gardens that looked like they had been lifted straight out of nature.

One display in particular really stuck with me.

It featured a slightly worn wooden fence, grass sprinkled with clover weeds, and even a small “For Sale” sign tucked into the corner of the scene. When we looked closer, we noticed tiny acorns scattered across the ground.

It was such a small detail, but it made us pause and think, wow… they really thought of everything.

That moment reminded me of something important: sometimes beauty isn’t about perfection. Sometimes it’s about seeing nature and character in the little details—even when things appear a bit imperfect at first glance.

The Art and Creativity of Gardening

Many people assume flower shows are simply places to purchase plants or gardening supplies. While that certainly exists, the Philadelphia Flower Show is much more than that.

The creativity and artistry on display from landscape architects, designers, and horticulturalists is extraordinary. Many of the installations feel like living works of art—combining storytelling, sculpture, architecture, and plants into fully immersive experiences.

In many ways, the level of design rivals some of the world’s most celebrated garden events, including the RHS Chelsea Flower Show in London, often considered the most prestigious flower show in the world.

After experiencing Philadelphia’s show this year, Sherry and I are already talking about attending Chelsea next May for our next garden-inspired adventure.

Our Favorite Displays

There were so many installations that inspired us throughout the day.

One of the first exhibits that caught our attention was called “Once Upon a Time…”, which felt like stepping into a storybook garden.

Another memorable installation featured a large sculptural nest symbolizing the interconnectedness of nature, families, and generations. The craftsmanship and symbolism were stunning.

We also loved the wedding table floral displays, which were elegant and inspiring for anyone planning a celebration—or simply looking to bring a little beauty into everyday life.

Perhaps one of the most creative exhibits was a portrait of William Shakespeare created entirely from flowers, a reminder that horticulture can be just as much art as it is gardening.

But our absolute favorite display featured a pair of hands gently holding flowers. To us, it represented gratitude, generosity, and the act of giving—something that resonates deeply with both our lives and our work.

A Fascinating Orchid Lesson

Another unexpected highlight of the day was learning more about orchids.

Did you know that it can take up to 14 years for an orchid to grow from seed to bloom?

Some of the orchids on display at the show dated back to the early 1900s. Seeing plants that had been cultivated and cared for over generations was incredible.

It was a reminder that the most beautiful things often take time.

Flowers, Homes, and First Impressions

Of course, as real estate agents, we couldn’t help but think about how landscaping and flowers play a role in the homes we help our clients buy and sell.

Beautiful landscaping creates curb appeal, often forming the very first emotional connection a buyer has with a home. A welcoming front garden, blooming planters, or thoughtfully designed outdoor spaces can instantly elevate how a property feels.

Inside the home, even something as simple as fresh-cut flowers on a kitchen counter or dining table can bring life, warmth, and energy into a space.

Sometimes it’s the smallest details that make the biggest impression.

A Few Souvenirs From the Show

Of course, we couldn’t leave the show empty-handed.

After wandering through so many incredible displays, I ended up bringing home two plants that immediately caught my eye: a Boobie Cactus (which is exactly as quirky and fascinating as it sounds) and a String of Dolphins, a trailing plant whose leaves actually resemble tiny jumping dolphins.

And in a moment of practicality for my many hours on the road, I also picked up something completely unexpected at a flower show—a vibrating pillow, which will definitely make those long drives a little more comfortable.

A Small Tradition of Gratitude

One of the sweetest moments of our visit was selecting flower seeds to bring home with us.

We plan to plant and grow these flowers as a small way to say thank you to our clients—the families who trust us to help them find the next chapter of their lives.

Helping someone find a home where their family can grow is a privilege we never take for granted.

So if you receive flowers from us this year, you’ll know exactly where the inspiration came from.

Thank you, as always, for your continued support.

With gratitude,

Sherry & Chloe
